This short film for South East Dance documents William Forsythe’s choreographic object which populated the Old Municipal Market space throughout Brighton Festival 2014. The piece featured hundreds of delicate pendulums, swinging in timed sequences, and forcing the audience members moving through to ‘dance’ in response.
This is the first of two versions, released in early May to promote the installation and receiving over 92,000 views on the Brighton Festival vimeo channel. The second, longer edit frames the piece better within the context of it’s magnificent space by showing the journey from empty space, through practical install, interaction with audiences during the Festival, and finally the return to empty space.
The longer edit can be found here.
